        Welcome to Bio-X Center website. This center is the second Bio-X center in the world after that one in Stanford University and the first Bio-X center in China. Since its establishment, the center insisted on the development strategy as "Distinguishing features as main points, Responsibility as our tasks, Science morality as the rule, Half a beat faster at each step for innovation resources, Major national demands as our directions". At the same time, we deeply understand that “ Step by Step” is the only way for research, Quick success should stay away from Academics, Impatience and impetuosity are the natural enemy of research, To comply with scientific principles is the basic requirement for excellent research, Total free imagination is the basic condition for excellent research. After its efforts for years, the Center has trained and restored many "brain" resources for our country. Today, the center has formed a research system with significant features, strict thinking and working systems, and it is focusing on resolving problems related to people and health under major national demands.

       A new blueprint has been outlined and shaped. For this goal, Bio-X Center had made the middle-term and long-term developmental plans and the "three-dimensional overlaping" type developmental strategy. The Center also built a research atmosphere with human being and the "garden" type research environment.

       Based on the idea of “The Great Biology” that all organisms are coded by 4 nucleic acids, Bio-X Center is to intersect all possible life sciences disciplines; Based on the fact that life contained “Ecological body” constructed by the running based on other disciplines’ rules and the internal interactions with other disciplines, Center will cross with any possible non-life sciences disciplines inside and outside our campus. Strict and relax, Gravity and charm, Harmony and beautiful chord melodies are interrelated, so that the Centre has become the wonderful research place where the ambitious scientists and young researchers desired to go, it actually attracted a great number of scholars and younger people from the world and our country each year.

       To encourage the progressive and upward of young people, Center used the profits of the "Bio-X award fund" to set up one annual "Bio-X award" for undergraduate and graduate students of School of Life sciences and Biotechnology and its Interdisciplinary, Shanghai Jiaotong University (more information, please check Bio-X Center’s webpage: www.bio-x.cn).

       It is not necessary for so many work, but reality and essence are needed. Through interdisciplinary superiority, Bio-X Center is trying to do some works with strengths and significant features, to participate in international competitions. “A rich country by Science and technology, a powerful country by Science and technology” is the internal goal which our Bio-Xers will pursuit. I believe, your participation and cooperation will form our common progress!
